If you’re hard feeding seriously do yourself a favor and look at Digestive HP from Poseidon Animal Health. I could talk about this one all day lol

You’re on to it! I’m also a big fan of fish oil for broodmares. If they don’t eat much grass their omegas can get low - Ker EO3 oil is a great addition imo!

Have you ever had pasture tests done? It can’t feel over the top but if you find the mineral ratios you can use supplements to correct them quite easily
Otherwise go for a supplement that’s around 100mg copper 300mg zinc 300mg manganese
Obviously make sure they are getting adequate Ca (alfalfa ✅)

I’m very pro grazing muzzles, the challenge with pregnant mares is we have to maximize their food intake without too high of energy, it can be a challenge!

Fill her up with soaked hay ! I call it feeding them thin. Feed them low energy feeds and they will eat less grass that’s the trick!
If you can get a trace mineral supplement into them in a small feed with something like Digestive HP that’s a recipe for success and a healthy foal.

Absolutely not that sounds like a great diet! So many are scared of alfalfa and beet but they are truly super foods for horses if they’ve been grown and prepared the right way!
