stripping my own agency of making any decisions just feels fucking awful. i appreciate it if you want to inform me of whatever happened, as well as trying to understand my experienced, but don't treat me as though i can't defend myself. i'm not 'helpless', nor am i 'fragile'.

to me, personally, having someone be assume stuff about me as well as make decisions for me without much thought or communication really puts me off. makes me feel less like a person and more like a walking warning sign, as though people should police others *for* me.

it's one thing to be understanding and learning the experiences BIPOC go through, it's another to incessantly assume and make choices for them with what little understanding you have of them, especially since experiences can't be translated that easily into words.
