Oh my goodness, was this at the botanic gardens? I am doing the bird walk Saturday and would love SO MUCH to see a noisy pitta!!!!

It often is for me too actually, but this particular arid ecosystem the animals are a bit more hardy! What species did you work on?

Dig in day was fine with a top of 31 degrees but we have a 39 coming up in a few days so fingers crossed it doesn't tick to 40 otherwise we'll need to close our traps (for the safety of trapped animals)

Specifically I'm trying to work out if they're more likely to cache larger prey compared to something mouse sized. It seems likely to me that if they can just gulp it down, that's what they'll do rather than cache, but it's just my thoughts rather than evidence based.
