This is a huge honor. Little League Baseball has named me its Poet Laureate. It's all overshadowed by Trump's news, of course, because FIFA is the more powerful organization.

In all seriousness, you have to have at least one European side but not more than two in each group, and you can only have one team from any other confederation in a group, and so you occasionally have to skip a group and put a team in the next possible one, is pretty straightforward.
The World Cup draw wasn’t complex. We are just uniformly taken for idiots by the Media-Rioferdinandustrial complex.

Relatedly, I saw someone imply on here that what was novel about this moment was that Russia has always meddled in European politics but now the US was too and I guess it depends on your definitions but the US absolutely did interfere in Western European politics during the Cold War in dubious ways.
So much discourse on geopolitics and issues of covert operations and interference in other countries’ sovereignty is so completely siloed - there always has to be the one force for evil that explains everything and little interest in exploring parallels and precedents that don’t fit the one framing.

it’s a government packed to the absolute gills with people who hold transphobia as an acceptable (in fact desirable) bigotry among their social circle
It's worth noting that the Government has a massive majority and could fix this in an instant with a one-line piece of legislation. It doesn't want to.

It is fascinating that a genuinely intelligent person like Clinton cannot fathom people just disagreeing with her based on the evidence, clearly this is a racial (and ideological) blindspot on her part, but this is true for pretty much everyone of her generation and of her particular elite cohort.

I have many wild takes on How To Improve Association Football but I honestly feel “Make games 70 mins long but stop the clock for stoppages” is probably one of the less wild ones.
