The SMRT is the public transport service here in Singapore. But it feels a bit weird seeing it when you speak Czech, because in Czech “smrt” means death!

Spotted at the Chinatown Heritage Centre today - the phrasing “growing up years” rather than “childhood” did not fit in with my own dialectal expectations (Sth Aust English) - I am wondering whether this is more common to use in Sing English, cross-linguistic influence from Chinese (or both) (1/2)
