A big THANK YOU to the wonderful volunteers who look after #WoodlandTrust Spud Wood at Lymm, Cheshire. Planted as a millennium wood, it’s been nurtured for 24 years into a flourishing habitat for wildlife. Lots of birds active in the sunshine today 💚 🌎 🌳 ☀️ @wtscotsocial.bsky.social #birdwatching

With huge sadness I’m resigning as Vice President of RSPCA, a role I’ve held with pride for over 15 years. But their Assured Schemes risk misleading the public & legitimising cruelty. I tried with @ChrisGPackham to persuade the leadership to act but sadly failed

1/3 This scandal with so-called 'organic' salmon is just the tip of the iceberg. Not only are consumers being duped into paying premium prices for farmed salmon doused in toxic chemicals, but the entire practice of fish farming is an environmental disaster.

Salmon exposed to banned chemicals unwittingly sold by UK supermarkets
Norwegian firm Mowi, which describes itself as the 'world's most sustainable protein producer' has been selling fish exposed to dozens of chemicals to UK supermarkets as 'organic'.

Organic salmon appears to be like free range eggs - both happen in factory farming environments and both are not what they seem.

I keep seeing well known figures in the UK, who I really admire for their leadership and #activism, getting so carried away that they’ve got key facts completely wrong - and the credibility of the message is undermined. It’s so important to get the #science right, however famous you are #factcheck

The #3Rs just aren't cutting it. We need an ethical framework that is enforceable, takes into account what we now know about animal sentience, the booming world of #NAMs, & perhaps offers a fourth "R" - Rejection.

Yes - I’ve heard it myself. I was sent an episode by people concerned about the total bull**it being shared by someone who claimed to be a toxicologist. I’m massively into alternative therapies myself but misinformation is different - it’s dangerous, misleading, and irresponsible…. #pseudoscience
