New York Times social media guidelines prohibit expression suggesting partiality on things like ICE, execution of foreigners in fishing boats, or whether law is a thing.

However, tipping off notorious serial pedophiles about other reporters is absolutely fine.

"Convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein" is a phrase that first appeared in newspapers in March 2011 and appeared regularly from that point onward. it is INCONCEIVABLE to me that this many people were still associating with him!!

Sounds like the fluff pieces they wrote about Mussolini (including, unsurprisingly, in the NYT).

NeoLibs helped bring NeoFascism to America through their inaction to stand up to frump. They keep making the same mistakes.

i think about this way too much - how tech companies act vs. “legacy” companies that produce consumer goods, news, media or entertainment.
Six people died from tampered Tylenol and the company pulled 30 million bottles off the market. ChatGPT is accused of urging seven people towards suicide, and OpenAI just assures us they’re still working out the kinks. Billions in investment, zero accountability.

The chaos adds to the stress. Young adults I spoke to while reporting named the uncertainty around SNAP and the back-and-forth as part of what was taking such a heavy toll—not knowing what to prioritize, or how to plan. Even as benefits begin to go out, that kind of uncertainty is devastating.
Breaking: A federal appeals court just denied a last-minute bid by the Trump admin to temporarily halt some SNAP funding during the shutdown.

The social media platforms were doing the GOP a favor by booting vile bigots off their services. Now that they have largely given up, the bigots are the party's problem.

Wonder if they regret making such a stink about "deplatforming."
Four years ago, far-right white male supremacist Nick Fuentes was deplatformed pretty much everywhere.

Now he's back with a vengeance—and the online right can't stop fighting over whether to condemn him or welcome him. My story: wapo.st/4nJbt4M

When I posted SNAP is suicide prevention, that wasn’t a cute joke

Food insecurity on this level, in this context, especially if this occurs again anytime soon, is psychological warfare

Whether or not the oligarchy is insightful enough to KNOW that’s what they’re doing, that IS what they’re doing
New — While some states have received SNAP benefits for November and USDA is supposedly pushing through all federal payments soon, that doesn’t erase the psychological terror of the last few weeks.

I spoke with 20+ SNAP recipients in 16 states about preparing for a possible future with no food:
