The students in #Serbia set a standard for civic responsibility in a context where institutions no longer function in the public interest. They showed that when democracy collapses, it does not return by decree or negotiation. It is reclaimed. It is built in the street, in the refusal to withdraw.

The College of Europe will host, beginning early 2025, a new diplomatic programme: the EU Diplomatic Programme for the Enlargement Region.

In #NorthMacedonia’s local elections, the biggest losers are the citizens. Low turnout (46%) reflects deep voter apathy & disillusionment, especially among ethnic Albanians. Gender representation remains poor: only one woman elected.

According to a survey conducted by DEMOSTAT, an independent Serbian think tank, only 34% of Serbian citizens support #Serbia's accession to the EU. In contrast, 53% of Serbian citizens oppose a continuation of the process.

The innovation performance of countries in the #WesternBalkans continues to improve, following consistent upward trajectories since 2018. The region as a whole still lags behind the EU average, with all of them classified as Emerging Innovators.
