The embarrassing part is that we are in fact “ruled”. Not what the United States of America is supposed to be about, with our government of the people, by the people, for the people. (I might have the order of prepositions wrong… but each should hold!

British protests are so baffling! When I lived in London, elderly people would glue themselves to the street in order to protest lack of good insulation in homes. Seems weird to me that vandalizing stuff that should feel like everyone’s common heritage is going to be helpful to your cause.

I guess I used to be one of those swing voters, living as I do among pragmatic people in what I would call a conservative part-rural Democratic area. But for many years now there hasn’t been a sane Republican candidate at any level.

I LOVE not knowing anything about cricket. The terminology is so fantastically nonsense. Once I sat in front some young travelers from England on a bus in Argentina, and for HOURS one of the guys just recounted a cricket match. If I knew about cricket I would have had to pay attention and not sleep.
