Confession: I majored in art in college, but I'm not well practiced in the whole " #drawing " thing. Still, found this ref by #278Byaedeok and knew I had to give a shot at showing Bai Youling and Prince Kamau from my #wip The Prince's Prized Possession.

Plush, heavy mattresses on thick, sturdy frames. After readying for the night, Prince Kamau had led him to one, sat him down, leaned in close, and planted his lips right in the middle of Bai's forehead without bothering to ask for permission. The feeling had been just as magical as the first time, weightlessness, tingling, the sensation of a warm and comforting energy flowing into some deep and unknown part of him that seemed bottomless. And Bai had allowed himself to surrender to it. Including the side effects that seemed to want to drive all the blood in his body to a particular spot. He'd been wanting something. Comfort? Reassurance? In the moment, a thought surprised him. He wouldn't mind being used tonight, if the Prince was the one to use him. Bai had even risked resting his hand on Prince Kamau's chest, hoping to urge him to continue. Though just as quickly as he was caught up in the moment, it stopped. Prince Kamau had pulled away, towering over him with an expression Bai couldn't read if he wanted to. "I'm sorry, Bai Youling," Prince Kamau had said. "I have a little more business before I can retire for the night, but we start early tomorrow. You should get some sleep if you can." And with that, Prince Kamau had left. And Bai, all alone in the echoingly empty plush bedroom, with a body embarrassingly aching to be touched, had not gotten much sleep at all.

So I got #prowritingaid years ago so I could have another set of "eyes" on my punctuation and grammar. I don't know if this is the first year, but I got this email. They're competing with NaNoWriMo. You finish an entire 50k word draft. They give a whole $2 to charity. #lol #amwriting

Doing the most nerdy of author things and shelling my character Bai Youling into a Nendroid doll. It's amazing what a bit of chalk pastel and watercolor pencil can do to make features pop. (He gets travel sick so this faceplate was an absolute necessity 🤭)

A cream skinned Nendroid male doll with an eyeless faceplate and height adjustment limbs. The torso has been accentuated with chalk pastels and undiluted watercolor paint and pencil to bring out the detail of the muscles on the blank body. The faceplate has been detailed with a typical ill/nauseous anime/chibi style fitting the shape of the doll. The top of the head has been blushed blue, and black spirals have been drawn for eyes. Darker vertical blue lines have been added near the eyes as is typical for the style. The mouth is drawn tightly closed in a squiggle, with the suggestion of distended cheeks.

Diligently, Prince Kamau worked from the bottom first, slowly detangling Bai's long hair, enjoying the play of candlelight as the silky white strands flowed through his fingers. Slowly, he worked his way up to Bai's scalp, running the comb gently from the root down to the very end, over, and over, and over again. "And mine?" Bai asked, breaking the silence and Prince Kamau's focus. "Am I softer than a horse?" Prince Kamau cracked, trying his hardest not to outright laugh. "Please, Youling. Please forgive me for that rude comment. But, yes. Even the highest bred show stallion would be in envy of your locks." Bai did laugh. A good, genuine laugh he didn't know he needed. "Not the worst compliment I've ever got!" "I'll have to try harder then." Prince Kamau rapped the top of Bai's head gently with the back of the comb before putting it back in its place on the dressing table. He himself made his way to their bedding, flopping down ungracefully upon it.

Pretty cool week at work. We smashed watermelon, made paper mache lanterns, and finished out Friday with a real party of an English class. One of the kids colored in this rainbow corrugate, and it looked so cool I had to snag a picture before it got repurposed into something. These kids are alright.

Got it in my head everything written so far needs to be in one document so I can see the flow between the chapters better. I had been keeping each chapter in a separate file , like I did for my first book to make serializing easier.
