I read this poem at the beach yesterday and it has one of my favorite turns of the summer!

"Say yes to wanting to be this cat."

It just cracked something open in me.

The life of a poet is weeping when Dorianne Laux says, “Nothing is gone forever,” and rising, empowered, when Lil’ Kim spits: “Rather count a million while you eat my pussy / push me to the limit, get my feelings in it / get me open while I’m cumming down your throat.” #poetlife #poetsofbluesky

I was walking someplace new today when I was stunned by how the straight fence and path told the story of the Earth’s curvature in shadow.

There is a poem in this image. Maybe a dozen.

I would love to read yours.

Drafting on a Monday can feel like sowing seeds in the gravel. Still, the ritual matters. Keep showing up.

This year has been transformative for my writing because I started a morning pages* routine.

Every morning (mostly), first thing, I try to fill a two-page spread in my notebook with whatever feels right. I’ve played around with constraints, but the only real rule is: I have to show up to the page.

This morning I wrote an ode to the rest of the story. Here is my poem, dropped letters and all.
