Back in the 1980s when we said the Reagan Administration was weakening democracy, increasing financial inequality, and causing serious damage to the country, we were told we were being hysterical lefties, often by the Democrats as well.

MAGA is the logical evolution of “the Reagan revolution”.

My go-to example is Megyn Kelly being scornful of paid family leave…until she needed it herself, at which point she did a 180.

This isn’t growth; it’s just extended selfishness.

Rumor is a Japanese appliance company did a sales audit (in the 60s I think) and found they were selling hardly any rice cookers in the U.S…except in Louisiana, where they were selling a ton. Cajuns make a lot of rice dishes. (Weirdly my ex preferred using a pot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

I was just thinking about it, and it’s interesting how my cooking equipment differs from my parents. I went to college in CA & married a Cajun, so I acquired a rice cooker, wok, cast iron skillet, a set of good kitchen knives, and gumbo pot. I do *not* have cookie moulds or a rolling pin.

These people are bigoted psychopaths. Some like Rich Logis want us to be kind and welcoming. How is that possible in the face of this kind of thing? www.instagram.com/reel/DRm3D0Q...

I absolutely these expected illegal and unwarranted provocations to have produced violence by now. I stand amazed at “our side”, the side of people who believe in the rule of law and the ideals this country was founded on.

We’re obviously better than they are. But how long will this detente last?

I continue to be astounded at the epic levels of restraint Americans are showing in the face of these brutal, illegal, unconstitutional acts. No return fire w/ non-lethal weapons; no retaliatory pepper-spraying: no masses of people tipping over alleged ICE vehicles. Not even the odd tasering.

Who do you think is Chip (Kevin Bacon)? I think Pelosi may be Otter. We badly need a D-Day.

It does drive me nuts that Republicans can only support something when it’s directly affects *them*. I was a supporter of LGBT+ rights before I even got married, well before my youngest came out as trans. I note this not to humblebrag but rather to say: FFS get with the program, Republicans!

Palantir—and I don’t use this word lightly—is evil.

Hell, they’re trying to get rid of vaccines ffs.

I’ve said it many times: They want to push us back to 1865. No women’s suffrage; no direct election of Senators; no Presidential term limits; etc.

I want the moderator in every Presidential debate to have a mic cutoff switch they can flip when the candidate tries to talk over their opponent or simply won’t STFU.

And in general I want legacy media reporters to shout “Bullshit!” when confronted with same.
“I’ve ended 8 wars.”
“BULLSHIT!”

During an OCR debate an Orthodox woman pointed out that while these distinctions matter very much among ourselves, when the fascists come, “They’ll march us all to the ovens together.”

I think of that a lot, especially these days.

My siblings and I (and our families), without fail, watch A Charlie Brown Christmas. We *usually* all watch A Christmas Story. My trans daughter and I watch the first four Die Hard Movies (at her insistence).

Personally I love the Leverage episode “The HoHoHo Job”. With Wil Wheaton & Dave Foley!
