Forcing people into small cells in harsh, prison-like facilities and preventing proper support is cruel and totally unacceptable. We urge the government to change course on this deal and stop harming people who have already lived through war, torture and trauma.

Billions of £ have been wasted on ineffective asylum accommodation. Safe, community-based and cost-efficient housing is possible and should be a priority, if only on medical grounds.

At our mobile clinic with @msf.org at RAF Wethersfield, 62% of patients seen in appointments faced severe mental distress, and 30% had suicidal thoughts.

For over one year, Doctors of the World, in partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières, ran a primary healthcare mobile clinic outside the main gates of the former RAF base at Wethersfield.
