It is turn based. I think SMT5 is the closest point of comparison (press turn system but also character limit breaks). A lot of gear either gives new skills or augments you already have. They do also give stats but gear is just as much about what skills and passive states they grant.

This is pretty early in prototyping so nothing is set in stone yet.

Gear also has a rarity that can be improved. If you like Equipment A and it is white rarity, you can later get Equipment A +1 that is green rarity and has better stat scaling or more abilities.

The idea, as it stands, is to have regular gear drops and a lot of shops. This is a cyberpunk capitalist dystopia setting and a game about androids so having a focus on replacing parts of yourself is a major thematic factor.

I'd read your essay. I have been informed that I am describing Monster Hunter (gear level, transferring skills, etc) but I am always open to input.

It's gay af too so that's a plus.
