Why i won't be cross-border shopping from Manitoba to North Dakota anytime soon. The media says the people there miss Canadians shopping - boo hoo. They already voted about 66% for tRump, and now their approval has gone up even more?
They'll see me on the 12th of Never.

Who else is frustrated with this on every CBC page? I emailed Oct 29 and got this: Thank you for reaching out to CBC. We appreciate your frustration with this issue. It is a known problem our colleagues at CBC.ca are working to solution as quickly as possible. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

10,000 members!
Glad i don't need to join this group; i'm already Canadian.

So who are those people who still supported tRump?
Seems like a good time to remind them of this.

It's Banned Books Week, so I'm looking at the Eleanor Roosevelt banned book awards winners.
This cute picture book for ages 4-8 is receiving an award. And it's in my public library, so I'm gonna go read it, even without kids.

They say that common sense isn't very common anymore. I can't believe that people would do this.

This is a powerful and heartfelt story. A call for courage to speak up about injustice and bigotry.

CBC website this morning. The headlines say it all. Every article except the bottom right about auto insurance is about the situation in the US.
Who in their right mind would want to travel or live there now?

This will be my new mantra.
I cannot shift every single purchase - some cannot be substituted or replaced. I am switching everything I can and forfeiting items that are non-essential.
Imagine if everyone does that.

This is from CBC but the story is all over the news.
Will anything change? No - Look at all the kids who die in school shootings, and still no gun regulations. So why would the US put any preventive measures in place when kids die of preventable diseases?
I'm waiting for polio to resurface.

Display at the Winnipeg Public Library for Freedom to Read Week. It's called "Blind date with a banned book". What a great idea.

Manitobans: Planning a cross-border shopping trip to North Dakota anytime soon? This is what you'll be supporting.
Think twice.

I will go with either, because I don't want to let the perfect become the enemy of the good. Some Canadian content is better than none. But I didn't know the difference between these labeling phrases.

This poor little guy was a distant cousin.
Death certificate:
Died 28 May 1861, 3 months before 4th birthday. Cause of death - scarlatina simplex (scarlet fever) for 13 days. Anascara (severe generalized edema) commencing 1.5 days after eruption.
Pretty soon we'll be Making Diseases Great Again.

I'm going to save this to my desktop and refer to it often.

25 years ago - who remembers?
On NYE I worked midnight shift at the hospital.
They had supervisors and engineers on duty, bottled water, and hauled manual blood pressure cuffs out of storage - 'just in case'.
Biggest non-event ever. The high-priced help had a drink after midnight and went home. 🤣

I thought I would know all these words... but I stopped at 'lough'. Never heard of it, let alone how to pronounce it. Had to google.
And there's a typo - thoughly instead of thoroughly. Never even noticed until I typed it for the alt text.

Today is International Human Rights Day.
Around the world there are 71 countries in which blasphemy remains a crime and 6 countries in which blasphemy is punishable by death (Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Brunei, Mauritania and Saudi Arabia.)

Personally I'd say more than 'slightly' right-center.

Finally took the plunge and deactivated the bird account. So satisfying to delete the app from my phone.
I ran SkyBridge once last week and again today before deactivating, and found quite a few more people and organizations / businesses here today than i did a week ago.
This 'cheat sheet' helped.
