these are serviceberries which, where i grew up, were called saskatoons. in the summers of my childhood we would go into the bush and fill ice cream pails with them, and also blueberries which they resemble but are unrelated to.
serviceberries, or saskatoons, some red and others a deeper, almost purple colour. those are the ripe ones, ready for picking.

no shade to this poster at all but it never fails to impress me the generosity with which people can read an essay full of terrible opinions so that they come to the conclusion ‘that guy doesn’t really know what he’s saying’

especially true when the ‘that guy’ in question is a prof at an ivy
