My profile picture honors Dr Wu Lien-teh & his pioneering work in Malaysia in 1910 on masking to prevent pneumonic plague. The French doctor Gérald Mesny who came to replace Dr Wu thought he knew better, refused to mask & died.
Just curious, have any of these that you've identified spread beyond the single presumed host? Fascinating either way.

More than her fiancé, or fellow female journalists, the public will pay the price for these misdeeds. RFK Jr. will see to that.

The linked paper [Hosp et al 2025] uses "recovered" patients (not uninfected) as controls, so doesn't quite tackle that first point head on. But it does cite another study [Sen et al 2023] (onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...) in support of that point about widespread CBF impairment.

Relatedly, the backlash against respiratory protection and isolating when sick is surely contributing as well

Of course, respirator (N95/FFP2/DS2/etc.) masks continue to provide excellent protection against a broad spectrum of pathogens.
