The last four pages are, in effect, a new set of IOPs explaining what the court plans for the new system. Definitely worth reading. (We haven’t had official IOPs from the court for several years, while its process has been evolving.)

re (1): The Governor is not the proper party. He argues that since the Tudors (!) there was private right to quo warranto. This May, SCOTX reiterated that "quo warranto must still be pursued governmentally" and "can only be brought by the attorney general, a county attorney, or a district attorney."

It made me feel better to read his sources.

The AG opinion is very hedged and suggests a quo warranto action would need to prove actual intent to abandon the office.

The “replacement” power cited is to call special elections after a vacancy.

Safety. I wish my EV had a physical parking/emergency brake. (The instructions for how to engage the emergency brake on my car say “press and hold” one of the buttons. Which is neither intuitive nor immediate, even if it *might* still work during a system reboot, which I don’t know.)
