P.S. Thank you to my late Great Great Grandfather Benjamin H. Davis who was a Tuskegee Airmen, as well as my Uncle Chris who served in the United States Air Force and many others for all of your sacrifice for our country and our family 💙

I truly believe a lifetime of service deserves more than gratitude; it deserves action. I am proud to be a part of an expansive bill package that lifts up our veterans by offering resources, protections and opportunities to thrive long after their service ends 🙏🏾

That's why House Dems have unveiled a more than 20 bill legislative package to support and protect MI veterans. The legislation aims to support vets in MI from various angles — from mental health & suicide prevention efforts & outreach to strengthened veterans abuse reporting protocols & much more.

Thank you to Senators Gary Peters and Elissa Slotkin for standing up for Michiganders, and holding the line for the healthcare access that we all deserve. Caving to Republicans is playing politics with our people's lives: we cannot accept that.

Also, highlighted the $270M expansion of the Rx Kids program that we fought for in the budget, which will help provide prenatal, postnatal, and infant support for Mothers with young children across Michigan 💙

It’s a damn shame we live in one of the wealthiest countries in the world & we don’t have a govt mandate for paid family leave.

I shared my experience & that of countless others who must choose between spending that critical time w/ their infant child or going to work just to pay bills to survive.

To comply w/ the court’s ruling on Thursday, the MI Dept of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) began sending full Nov. SNAP payments. Today’s late intervention from SCOTUS prevents the dept from finalizing all payments to MI recipients who have yet to receive their Nov. benefits.
