New traffic signs for Irish road users as Traffic Signs Manual updated
The Minister of State at the Department of Transport, James Lawless, has approved an update to the Traffic Signs Manual. One of the reasons for the update was to "support the release of the recently published Cycle Design Manual and BusConnects programme." However, as IrishCycle.com reported in September, the legal changes underpinning the Cycle Design Manual will not be fully implemented until Q1 2025 at the earliest.

IMPORTANT STUDY: “On average, the implementation of 30 km/h speed limits in European cities demonstrated a 23%, 37% & 38% reduction in road crashes, fatalities & injuries respectively. Lower speed limits also yielded environmental benefits.”

Fewer car Km pls i.e. own the car you want but drive it less. In Ireland the Gov.ie target is 20% less car Km by 2030.
All these things are true:
Electric vehicles ARE better than ICE vehicles, despite their issues.
When vehicles get “better,” too often people buy BIGGER vehicles & drive even more.
EV’s still pollute, take too much space, lead to too many deaths etc
Fewer cars, less driving is the REAL solution.

Fewer car Km pls i.e. own the car you want but drive it less. In Ireland the Gov.ie target is 20% less car Km by 2030.
