My latest (and last) report with the Grattan Health team. The public system is failing to fill the massive gaps left by the private market, leaving millions of Australians missing out on essential care. Fixing the training system and beefing-up public clinics are crucial first steps to address this.
Every year, about 1.9 million Australians delay or skip getting the healthcare they need due to high specialist fees and long wait times.

Our new report recommends a 5-point national plan to make sure every Australian gets the specialist care they need. buff.ly/nP81Rwd #auspol

As the energy transition ramps up, many Australians are starting to access the benefits of solar, EVs, and getting off gas. But millions of people are locked out, leaving an unfair share of the costs on those who are least able to pay.

I write about what needs to change in The Guardian today:
As the energy transition ramps up, Australia risks becoming a more unequal society. Here’s what needs to change | Dominic Jones
Governments must help households to make the switch to cleaner energy, and change the rules so that the benefits and costs are fairly shared

As my former colleagues Marion Terrill and Tash Bradshaw point out in this piece, cutting fuel excise is a bad idea.
