To make Perfect Forward Authentication I'd expect some analogous properties, such as it should be impossible to create fake old signatures, even if someone *didn't* delete their key.

The devil is in the details. For example, PFS still guarantees secrecy if one parties long term keys are compromised, or if one party leaks the ciphertext and plaintext, they cannot actually prove it's real.
