Five years later he's still beating up my shoes. He is either a mouthy, dapper little jackass of a cat — or a well-disguised border collie.

Jury's still out.
The same black-and-white tuxedo cat, now five years old and about 6kg (13-14 pounds). He's lying on his back on our couch, back feet resting against the back of the couch, front paws dangling in the air. His white belly fur looks so inviting and soft. WHICH IT IS. But it is also a trap. Try to pet it, and he assumes you want your hand bunny-kicked. In fairness, he assumes everything wants to be bunny-kicked. It's what he has in his brain instead of standard feline affection. He is an absolute monster, but he is a dapper little shit. Whenever I enter the room, he trots across the room to headbutt my shins. It is possible that we got a border collie wearing a cat suit. It would explain a few things.

A small black-and-white tuxedo kitten (with a fading halo of gray from a fever coat) has his paws wrapped around my (also small) black-and-white Converse All-Star shoes. He was, in fact, bunny-kicking the shit out of my shoes, even though the shoes were bigger than he was. At five years old, he still bunny-kicks my shoes at least once a day. My shoes are his favorite toy. As Noah put it: "Don't blame the cat. He was very clear about his priorities, and you adopted him anyway."

There's "I need new sneakers" and then there's "half of the word All-Star on my heel is worn away."

Welp, I have new shoes now.
The heel of a black Converse All-Star shoe. The heel originally had the word "All-Star" on the back edge, but the heel is so worn away that only the top third of the word "Star" remains. These shoes were at least 10-15 years old.

I'm grateful you posted this. I moved away from AL long enough ago now that my info is out of date. Portland is solidly blue, so a good % of my donations go to Arkansas and Alabama. They need those dollars more.

My gray streak is rapidly becoming a major identifying feature.

Also, the ravens are fearless. They'll hang out with you while you gas up your car. Y'know, in case you drop something.

This news hits hard for me. I am proud of the years I spent working in (another) Alabama public library system. Librarians, especially those in deep red states, deserve every bit of this support. ❤️
