For the weekend crowd:

My least favorite part of Thanksgiving weekend is all the brands coming out of the woodwork to ask me to spend money on them. Yes, I bought a set of boards and bags from cornhole dot com a year and a half ago, but that doesn’t mean I need another set today (or really ever)

I nibbled on WAKE UP DEAD MAN and matters of faith in yesterday’s newsletter; here’s a full-course meal, and it’s wonderful
I think @rianjohnson.bsky.social made WAKE UP DEAD MAN just for people like me (angry exvangelicals who still find value in Jesus’ teaching even though the Church is really bad at living those teachings out, bonus points if you like U2). Paired it with CONCLAVE in my latest column @bwdr.bsky.social
Double Features: Wake Up Dead Man and Conclave
Wake Up Dead Man and Conclave depict faith at work in a world that’s dark and growing darker. Both films hold faith up to the light and ask: In times like these, what are the faithful to do?

Friendsgiving this year meant four pies, an aggressively cranberry-flavored ice cream, lao gan ma chili crisp as a condiment, my husband on kitchen duty, Over the Garden Wall, games, and a bunch of 30-somethings drawing hand turkeys

The Authorized podcast had me back for Friendsgiving. Last year it was the ALIEN cookbook, this year it was one of A24’s. Come for our opinions about this cookbook, stay for sourdough care tips and one of the hosts eating an entire spoonful of Marmite

An industrious gal comes to a remote place, only to find herself drawn to the quirky folks she meets and eventually becomes one of them? Darlin', that's a Hallmark movie.
