Oh yeah at my peak I used to become peeking-out-the-windows levels of paranoid about people conspiring to have me committed whenever I’d hear the slightest amount of concern. Which is wild bc I also wouldn’t even make much of an effort at all to hide my tracks when I’d go out lol

Sometimes people manage to figure it out and come out with a coherent worldview for having experienced this particularly intense intersection of societal nihilism. Other times they don’t bc it’s maddeningly complicated and having a chronic back injury in this country sucks ass

That’s not really a value statement in any which way. But you did find types of people like this (or the 15-years-ago equivalent) to varying degrees caught up in the Florida pill mill crisis back in the day

I’m saying this partly bc there’s a very “if you squint your eyes” element of relatability to some of what’s come out about the suspect’s profile but the specific type of confused/contradictory beliefs and interests that seem to characterize this guy strike me as pretty recognizable from this POV
