Hockey fan, early modernist, neophyte metal head, sighthound enthusiast. Not necessarily in that order. She/her.
Yeah—if you follow the repost chain, that’s where is started. Someone compared her thoughts to Milton’s Satan, so I thought I would provide the specific lines people are alluding to.

If teaching (again, defined expansively) wasn't so vital, our temu-brand fascists wouldn't be so obsessed with destroying the places where its happening. Don't let them take our agency. And don't let our disciplinary orgs and prominent voices within them overlook and erase our voices and work.

I can’t do much about the way the world feels like it’s coming down around our ears right now, but dammit I will at least be a human who cares for my students and shows that care in every class I teach.

I can’t imagine anything more dehumanizing than working my ass off for an assignment and knowing my prof didn’t even read it or think about it, or just read an AI summary. What motivation to try to learn can come from that arrangement?

Even leaving the ethics aside, if admin needs to be able to answer the question, what does this college provide to its students that they can’t just get from AI, integrated AI graders aren’t going to help!

I’ve added language to my syllabus this year, just after my academic integrity policy, that promises all feedback they receive in my class will be FROM ME, and actual human, who has actually read their work (not had it AI summarized) and thought about it.

Since Dewey and Vygotsky, any serious discussion of what meaningful learning looks like centers relationships and sociality. Learning needs community, needs *presence* from both teacher and learner. Content means little if those things aren't in place. Yet Khan thinks glorified chatbots are the way?
