As a physician scientist, I'm deeply concerned about the massive NIH indirect funding cuts. With only 1-2% of us in this role, the stress on researchers is overwhelming. These cuts threaten our ability to innovate and may lead to a significant decline in scientific progress and university resources.
This article gives an excellent overview of the impact on universities and US research will be if the announced cuts to NIH indirect cost rates hold.
