Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”

Racism, sexism, gender identity and sexual orientation has been weaponized in America so that culture wars have replaced fighting for the little guy and gal.

That's how capitalism works. The rich and powerful control politicians through donations and they control information to public through media.

Finally, as LBJ said,

“If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket.

Thank you for posting FDR speaking. We need you and others like you to keep our spirits up, along with the words of our past great leaders, leaders which we are sorely lacking.

The rich only want to get richer and they will replace us with robots and starve us at this current rate. As long as the rich have it all, they don't care about regular society.

Last night, on the Rachel Maddow Show, Bernie gave us three things we should demand from all candidates:
support medicare for all
support ending Citizens United
support taxing billionaires

Imagine running on an agenda so powerful to the poor & working classes that you were elected to office an unprecedented 4 times & the elites so feared that power that laws were passed to limit it.

And the robber barons hated him for it - "a traitor to his class".

Psychopaths will ALWAYS be a part of humanity. Therefore, democracy ALWAYS must be defended against them!

It's THIS simple.

I dunno lots of the “barons” did what they did for the sake of legacy. It was a time when reputations weren’t made by consumption so they sort of out did one another in acts of “altruism” of a kind that served their own class.

Carnegie did it in his old age almost as a form of atonement. Rightfully so after his monopoly and the riots at his steel mill.

We need big money out of campaigns. Repeal Citizens United. I have no problem with people making money. We are a capitalist society. But, be a Pritzker not a Trump.

Yeah, fair point. I don't think we "need" rich people at all.

But as long as we're stuck with 'em, I much prefer the FDRs of the world.

They're not very good men, but Carnegie and Rockefeller built universities and libraries with their money.

Trump builds monuments to his fragile ego with ours.

You know, FDR was an "elite." He came from money on both sides of his family.

Yet, he wasn't a predatory scumbag like pretty much all of our rich elites now. He looked out for the little guy. He looked out for the poor. FDR cared about people.

We really need a better class of rich people.

FDR was born into wealth, but fought for a good life all Americans. What we're seeing with trump & his oligarchs is just the opposite and completely unacceptable.
