2 others major NYT stories covered Epstein’s 2018 trial(s) which were ultimately settled

I only found one passing reference to Trump in either one

This kind of negatively polarized framing is so annoying

“Trump is bad, therefore we should criticize his entente with jihadi Syria”

Never mind it’s probably a good thing and we shouldn’t mindlessly adopt hawkish foreign policy frames just to spite Trump?

I was poking around a bit on Google Trends this morning, and apparently one of the more common searches about Jews in the U.S. is "are Jewish people Christian?"

Has increased lately, and seems to be particularly popular in Oklahoma

Interesting. Female suicide bombers may not actually be more lethal than their male counterparts (popular belief in terrorism studies)

Trump: I lost because of the shutdown!

Moderate Senate Dems: the shutdown has failed

I’m not sure some of them weren’t gleeful too, especially in the latter case. But fair point overall, there is a deliberate cruelty here that’s different than some other situations

Good round-up at the end too of all his similar moves

Whenever I see one of these stories, I think of North & Weingast 1989 and how I learned in the first year of grad school that we figured out this shit was stupid a half millennium ago

Kind of fascinated to see if, in a potentially bad environment for MAGA next year, Independent Brian Bengs can make a run at Senate over Mike Rounds in S Dakota

Fascinatingly, it's less common but there is also a narrative on far-right social media that Zohran is an agent of the "Jewish deep state" and Soros cabals -- even as he's accused of antisemitism.

JD's airtight 3-point program for MAGA:
-juice turnout
-stop fighting about who is and isn't a Nazi
-do something on affordability and inflation (no specifics, but "concepts of a plan")!

A long-standing obsession

And, if we want to draw an even more direct arrow from Cheneyism to Trumpism, let’s not forget how the costs of those wars created fertile ground for the radical right:

Gee, who could’ve predicted it?
November 4, 2025 at 3:19 AM
This isn’t great.

I like Zohran but I don’t know why he’d get in bed with Jeremy Corbyn — a politician with an *actual* taint of facilitating antisemitism — in the race’s home stretch given the attacks he’s faced

Playing right into your opponents‘ hands. And for what, is Corbyn such a draw?

7) Perhaps most scandalously, Trump showers praise on CBS's "great, new leader" Bari Weiss and seems to link her installation to the network's earlier settlement with him.

This was cut from the edited interview.

6) Trump says when an election is rigged you're allowed a do-over
November 3, 2025 at 2:51 PM
5) On the potential for Bibi to face domestic accountability over his corruption cases, Trump says "we'll be involved in that to help him out a little bit"
November 3, 2025 at 2:51 PM
4) Trump says Bibi Netanyahu has "never been pushed before"
November 3, 2025 at 2:51 PM
3) Asked about Zohran, Trump tries to get Norah O'Donnell to agree that he's "better looking" than the NYC mayoral hopeful. To which she responds "Okay."

(Oof, and this seems to have been edited so it didn't land with a thud)

2) Trump acknowledges it looks bad -- and says that he'd rather not have Norah O'Donnell ask the question -- about his pardon of Binance founder Changpeng Zhao.

Both lines were cut from the edited version.

Some moments that stood out to me from the full (unedited) 60 minutes Trump transcript: 🧵

1) Asked repeatedly, Trump can't articulate a clear rationale for testing nuclear weapons except that other countries are doing so

A status-based explanation for state behavior if ever there were one
