6) Grab a few random tables, name generators, etc. If you ever need a mood or tone, just use the same 2d6 method detailed above.

5) Come up with the village’s overall tone. Roll 2d6. The range: 2 being hostile toward outsiders, 7 being somewhat neutral, and 12 being overtly friendly and helpful.

4) Come up with 1-2 hooks for adventures in the village. These can even lead to your main quest or offer additional details.

3) Figure out if/where players can buy/sell goods. Most villages, even by fantasy standards, don’t have a ton of currency available for purchasing items.

2) If you’re going for high fantasy or it’s a particularly large town or village, determine where the inn is. In a more realistic setting inns are less common in small villages.
