It's the 16 year anniversary of when the depressed anthropomorphic bread loaf from German kids TV was abducted by vagrant anarchists who were battling the city over squatting rights! Anarchists posted vid of the loaf expressing solidarity w them. Some feared the bread already had Stockholm syndrome

Useful simile here. It will be making an appearance in my grad theory class this Spring. #NDSUCOMM711

A prof at a renowned™️ university reached out once because they were writing a book on communication. They saw I was in a comm dept and was surprised those existed. Asked for a review piece or two to summarize the field. Didn't appreciate me asking if there was one article that summarized their field

My colleagues do cool stuff
Just returned from presenting at one of the most intellectually and socially stimulating conferences, on rhetoric and AI, hosted by the University of Tübingen’s RHET AI Center and the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. Amazing experience with great hosts and contributors.

#Com peeps: lots of communication doc students here, some attending #NCA24 the 1st time. What’s a tip to get lots out of the convention?

Here’s one: Attend your fave division’s business meeting. You’ll meet like-minded peers, connect with informal mentors, and learn if you like their vibe.

New rule - all scientific conferences are now required to do Hot Ones style panels 🥵
We did this at the American Psychology-Law Society Conference last year. It was an incredible success (way exceeded room capacity), so they’re doing another one next year.

Talk to folks in other disciplines about your work. They will ask you new questions that you haven’t had to answer from that angle before. It’s such good exercise!
