I pitched my NYT editor that folks really need to understand that the deadweight loss of tariffs rises in the square of the tariff rate. Despite the wonkiness of it all, they said yes--as long as you can explain that intuitively.

So the Fort Belvoir campus is not all of the CGSC (which is actually centered in Leavenworth) but my understanding is it is a big part of it & if similar cuts are coming for all PME (professional military education), the results will be very bad for both military readiness & military history.

What's incredible is how there are thousands - tens of thousands - of stories like this, a genuine national crisis akin to a foreign invasion, and our elite press is so bubbled, so insular, that they can only cover it by writing "Strong leaders flex governing muscles" 700 times over. Pathetic.

The United States Military Academy has just eliminated all Cadet clubs and activities for POC. Most of these have existed for decades like the Society of Black Engineers. They were there when I was a Cadet in 1987. All of the religious ones remain. This isn’t DEI. It’s white Christian Nationalism.

A good response to impoundment and the IG firings by Senate Dems would be to grind everything in that chamber to a halt. No unanimous consent, holds on everything, wide use of the filibuster. Make it painful to move anything. Trump’s violations demand a proportionate response, not business as usual.
I'm fine with the Senate Dems posting whatever if even a single one was hammering about the illegal impoundment going on right now.
