I think this is right.

I'm also gonna throw out that Unprepared Casters is already an RPG podcast, so Unprepared Adventures might not work.

In retrospect, it reads as a very casual threat, and I'm very happy with that.

"Ah. Yes. There was a king we had to behead over that."

Done. Appropriate Nazi inclusion.

That's dead Nazis if you do it right.

Though I think don't games should have no Nazis by way of implicitly dead Nazis from some earlier period.

Very much felt like "If you're not gonna be a competitor for D20, CR, and SMOSH, why bother?" and frankly, yeah. If that's your mentality, don't make a show.

The piece also brings up that this was a niche field, but it's becoming mainstream. The idea that the market is growing but somehow also saturated is a direct contradiction.

It's now being fought for against bigger shows, but you can still carve your niche if you want to.

Yes, it's hard to cut through the noise and convince an audience you're not just another show. It feels like a barrier to entry, but the reality is that most shows need to find their footing anyway. Building an audience takes time, too, if you're not coming in with a unique draw.

It takes time.

The red tory wing of the Conservatives is jumping ship to the Liberals while Harper era aides are writing op-eds about Poilievre being a failure, and it's increasingly looking like he'll lose his leadership review.

Our worst-case scenario is the Liberal majority we're heading toward anyway.

D&D is bad because it isn't forced to change, and it's not forced to change because there's a willful illiteracy in the fan base.
November 2, 2025 at 10:38 PM
No, the cause is the bad design, we agree on that.

D&D designs exclusively for combat, but claims that it's about exploration and social encounters as well. They use rule zero as a shield against that criticism.

I was saying that nothing will change until they lose that shield.
