2- Thieves/vandals sometimes leave small breaks on window contacts as a way to test vulnerabilities. And a simple scratch will a hyper sharp tool is enough to fool some techs (think cut with a boxcutter). Easily detectable with a meter...but not the naked eye.

1- Make u watch the tech when he/she comes. Ask them to use a meter on any window contacts to check if the circuit is being impeded...or use a high lumens flashlight (in the dark) to examine the area around contacts urself.
