Any #atari experts out there know where I can find out the max current draw from the 5V (pin 7) of a 2600 joystick port?

From the schematics it looks like it comes directly off a 7805 and the field service manual BOM lists a 78M05 which I think has a max 500mA with suitable heatsink.

But so […]

Wow. This project is a bit special.

Just your average, run-of-the-mill, connect a mains 12:1 transformer to an Arduino GPIO...

Everytime I go to do something with the pico SDK I feel like I'm starting from scratch...

I just don't do anything often enough to get to understand cmake!

Hmm. I don't seem to be posting much atm, just boosting interesting odds and ends.

This is mostly as I'm doing a few non-musical things right now (and giving my other blog a bit of attention).

I am playing with some of the retro things I've bought though.

Also, as I'm chewing over some new […]

A first batch of my Eurorack Clock Divider is now available as a PCB or DIY kit!
This handy utility module takes an incoming clock signal and divides it all the way down to 1/64.

If you’re curious about the details or want to see the schematics, check out the full blog post here […]

So, having upgraded to KiCAD 9 do I accept the new colours for everything (PCB, layers, etc) or do I work out how to switch back to the same colours I'm used to and have published with before...

Anyone got a good style guide for the use of global, local or hierarchical labels in KiCAD?

I've split a schematic into parts, but I'm not quite sure what scoping rules to apply and, e.g. if using some global labels as interfaces, should they be used everywhere or connected to local symbols? […]

There are so many different types of micro USB connector available cheaply online.

And so many different micro USB connector footprints available in KiCAD.

So why does the overlap of footprints and connectors seem so small!?

I'm just after one for simple 5V power...

Anyone recognise this chip? It looks to me like it is marked 32F020, but that isn't turning up much atm...

And I know there isn't much to go on, so I'm really after guesses for things to search for :)

My first thought was stm32, but I don't think there is an F020 (there is an F030 and F070)?

Slightly random question... anyone know how to get Unity assets out of an apk in some kind of viewable form?

Extracting the apk as a zip file has given a whole pile of files that look like they need a catalog to access and process but nothing seems obviously resembling a format I know about […]

Rather daft but oddly satisfying fact.

It has taken 1954 days to reach 2000 subscribers on YouTube. Plotting that on a graph, with various interim stages too, has ended up with a subscriber a day growth rate of 1.024

A shame Mastodon didn't quite make it first though (still on 1999), although […]

And so, finally, I can drive a SP0256A-AL2 vintage speech chip using a MIDI keyboard.

This uses all the principles from previous posts and my recent Uno Shield PCB.

It really isn't very responsive at all and can only comfortably do an octave and a bit.

But […]

I've stuck my SP0256A-AL2 circuit onto an Uno shield format board.

It has an option for a fixed oscillator or the SI5351 programmable clock and should make any further messing around a bit easier.
