The other day, members from several trans and queer-led organisations came together to make 50 harm reduction kits. The kits will be given to trans community members across Greater LA.

Kits hold a year’s worth of harm reduction supplies for people who self-administer injection-based hormones.

The move came one week after Trump issued an executive order seeking to stop the use of puberty blockers, hormones and other medical procedures for transgender youth.

Over 3,000 trans youth will lose access to healthcare providers as a result of this closure. Over 14,000 trans people live in LA.

Earlier this year the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, a major provider of care for transgender youth, announced that they would be pausing hormonal therapy for gender affirming care patients under the age of 19. Despite significant community pushback, CHLA ended its gender affirming care program.
