I'm reading AMERICAN MIDNIGHT by Adam Hothschild. It's about the US during and after World War I.

Feels very "all this has happened before and all this will happen again" at this bit.

Every time I do a cross stitch design with backstitch, I remember how much I hate backtitching. I also remember how much better it makes everything look, and I find that offensive. 😆
A cross stitched fabric is in a wooden g hoop. The design is a collection of baking images. A small portion of the work is outlined in black - backstitched. It makes the images look much sharper and more finished.

This weird little guy is a bush-stone curlew. He was really hoping we weren't going to notice him.

Fun fact: at night, curlews SCREAM. They sound like a child screaming. It's disconcerting if you're not aware of their presence.

Made marshmallow today for marshmallow buttercream to dress Ang's birthday cake.

Making marshmallow brings so much joy. It's you haven't done it before, give it a go. It's way easier than it seems.

Poor Puck is subject to the most undignified treatment.

Having friends visiting just gives us an excuse to show new people Australian animals.
