Mutual aid and liberation—for humans and nonhuman animals—are key to collapse resilience. Where have you seen (or participated in) meaningful mutual aid projects?✋🐾🌍💚

Masking saves lives and protects health ❤️
Lots of folks are traveling & gathering this week—prime time for COVID, flu & other bugs to spread. Vaccines, clean air, testing & staying home when sick all help & masking remains one of the simplest, strongest tools. Masks save lives! Mask up to protect yourself & others. 😷💚

This.
This week kicks off a firestorm of overconsumption. Even “shop local” assumes unsustainable levels of consumption. Our choices either support compassion, justice & resilience—or fuel exploitation.

#CollapseResilience means living in ways that do the most good/least harm for all beings.

Do you have a little stash of cash?
Having cash on hand can be essential in a ATM/banking glitches, economic shocks, civil unrest, sudden evacuations, etc. A safely stored small reserve—esp. in small bills—reduces vulnerability & boosts your ability to help yourself & others. Save a bit/month until you reach a useful amount.✋ 🐾 🌍 💚

It’s heartening to see folks stepping up to support neighbors facing food insecurity. Our community’s Resilience & Resistance Team started a little free food pantry—open for anyone to donate or take food for humans or animals. Periodically we'll take what’s left to local pantries. #MutualAid

Do you know where your shut offs are?
Emergencies move fast. Knowing how to shut off your gas, water & electricity—and having the tools to do it—can prevent a crisis from getting worse.

Find your shutoff points, learn the steps & ensure everyone in your home knows them. This simple skill is a powerful part of #CollapseResilience.

Have you switched yet?
Big banks fund fossil fuel projects, factory farming, wars, gentrification, authoritarian politicians, etc., that harm people, animals & the planet & accelerate collapse.

Switch to a credit union or community development bank to help better protect your money & invest in your community. 🧵 (1/2)

Have you used 5 Calls yet?
Recent election results are heartening—but #CollapseResilience means staying engaged & pressuring officials to do much much better.

📞 5 Calls (5Calls.org) makes it easy to contact your federal legislators w/ scripts & tools. I spend 5–10 mins a few times a week speaking up for the vulnerable. ✋🐾🌍💚

Stock a portable food bin for when you have to evacuate fast. Ours has vegan, shelf-stable foods--granola, dried fruit, nuts, pouched meals--enough for 4 days for 2. Keep an inventory inside & expiration dates in your calendar to swap items out. Stock foods you actually like & do one for your pets.

The systems causing collapse aren’t inevitable. We can build interspecies communities rooted in liberation, care, justice, and interdependence.

Let’s make something better—together. ✋ 🐾 🌍 💚

Even w/ little money or space, a second freezer can be a powerful #CollapseResilience tool. Our chest freezer doubles as a prep space/drying rack and lets us save money, cut waste, eat better & store food for security, mutual aid, or barter.

What does food resilience look like for you?✋ 🐾 🌍 💚

This one was a tough one for us, but we've been paid streaming-free for some time now, and can't imagine going back. Yet another way to take back our power and hit the greedy corps where it hurts them.
#CollapseResilience Challenge: Cancel your paid streaming & take back your power. Corporations rely on our complicity. Save $, reduce energy, support libraries/community efforts & spend more time on meaningful living. What will you do w/ your extra time & money?✋ 🐾 🌍 💚

The newsletter from agricultural producer news site WATT Poultry is now a primary source of my anxiety. H5N1 is exploding in North American poultry. Every day, a headline like this.

But no human cases. Either there aren't any or there's no testing. Given CDC's dismantling, I can guess.

Where have you found nooks and crannies to store essentials for Collapse Resilience?
A friend turned a closet into essential food storage. We’ve added shelves in odd spaces, thrifted a pantry & swapped a treadmill for a chest freezer. Even small homes have hidden storage spots for #CollapseResilience: closets, walls, under beds. Scan your home for options & tell us what you find.

If any other president in all of history said the military should use American cities as a training ground he would be removed from office that same day. The hardest thing to tolerate in all this is how relatively silent elected democrats are. It’s ridiculous.
