Former #garden educator and big fan of #cooking #insects #quilting and #vegetablegardening.
After more than 30 years of canning food, I said goodbye to my old pressure canner. Treated myself to "the Lamborghini" of pressure canners. #cookingsky #foodpreservation #food #canning

Scored two dozen eggs at the store today and immediately went into "protect the precious" mode. One of us wheeled the cart around obstacles, the other acted as lookout like an old-time stagecoach shotgun rider. Eggs got the princess treatment in the car too. #eggs #cooking #baking #modernproblems

First attempt at marbled rye. Tasty, but the swirl is off. It's more of a flourish. #baking #cooking #breadbaking #comfortingthingstodowhiletheUSAfails

@somanyquestions.bsky.social I see your disappointing 1976 BH&G cookbook and raise you: behold, my 1950 Betty Crocker recipe for squirrels. Load it up with bacon, people! Betty was(is) badass. #cooking #bada**cooks

Baking my way into 2025: Loaded Baked Potato bread, Bolillo rolls, and bagels. Because the scent of baking bread is comforting, and that's what I need.
Next up: buttermilk hamburger buns.
I think 2025 is gonna be a heavy gluten year.

My "I love alliums" focaccia bread smells amazing! I can't wait to try it. I used my Lorz Italian garlic for bold flavor in roasting, rosemary, and red onions gifted to me by @mtngardener1.bsky.social. #focaccia #vegetablegardening #veggiegardening #cooking #baking #herbgardening #herbs

Love that the long, fairly warm fall means my rosemary plant is still producing. Not loving the climate change behind why this, plus thyme and parsley are still good to cook with. #gardening #kitchengarden #herbs #culinaryherbs #vegetablegardening #cooking

Buying grapes is stressful - they're all in bags. How many are in there? 20? 50? 150? Who knows, it's passive aggressive portioning! If I pull out only what I want does that trigger some dancing NIH-fruit munchkins to circle me singing about my 5-a-day needs? #firstworldproblems #fruit #veggies.

After a career of teaching gardening, any plant-themed quilt I make is based on real cultivars. Thus, my corn table runner is patterned after Glass Gem, a gorgeous corn #quilting #quiltsky #quilts #gardening #vegetablegardening

Enjoying the finished quilt from the annual Quilt Along with #4thandmaindesigns . It is easily the biggest quilt I've ever made. SO happy to hear that next summer's QAL will be a petite twin size. #quilting #quilts #sewing.

Hard to get a snazzy photo of my garden now that we've gotten snow and freezes, but here's a peek at my Glass Gem corn grown this year and now decorating the house. Xmas lights as bonus. #gardening #vegetablegardening #fall
