In the framework of the #ISACCO, #PAGINA and #IONOsmart projects, INGV and Politecnico di Torino have just installed new scientific systems at the Dirigibile Italia base to study the polar ionosphere and the effects of space weather conditions on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals.

🔄 The fall 2025 mission of Project Sedna is underway!
We returned to Arctic waters to focus on phytoplankton, zooplankton, eDNA, and acoustic monitoring.
This research helps to understand how Arctic ecosystem and marine mammals are responding to climate change.

The #FishMICRO mission to study Arctic fish #microbiomes in Svalbard has concluded. The samples collected will help us understand how #climatechange affects these fragile marine ecosystems.

The #EcoClimate 2025 activities successfully concluded. #Arctic lake greenhouse gas emissions were measured in real-time for the first time and nutrient inputs mapped. Data will improve predictions on #climatechange impacts on Arctic #biodiversity and wetlands' role in future climate regulation.

The 2025 campaign by #IGG-CNR to measure CO2 fluxes in the tundra at the #DirigibileItalia base in #NyÅlesund, #Svalbard, aimed at understanding how photosynthesis and respiration are affected by climate change, has come to an end. Thanks to the Dirigibile Italia staff for their support.

Just ended the summer campaign in Ny-Ålesund & Hornsund 🇳🇴. The project, conducted by IGG-CNR 🇮🇹 & IGF PAS 🇵🇱, explores groundwater–surface water links in a warming Arctic.
Next stop: autumn in Hornsund!

🐋 We're studying how climate change affects the presence and foraging behaviour of the fin whale. Our researchers are currently in the field, collecting acoustic data and capturing video footage and aerial images using drones.
