the intensity of my anger at those who would criminalize the homeless — a population literally created by the greed and callousness of the ruling class — is very hard to contain. it was you who dismantled the safety net. if you don’t like the results, put it back

Yes, I was hacked. It happened while I was texting with someone about my dad, who is dying of cancer, being in the hospital today. This is the worst possible time for me to try to resolve this. I'm guessing whoever did it might have known that.

Stunning how media has turned passage of the Abominable Bill into a will they-or-won't they romcom with a July 4th deadline for Cinderella to kiss the prince, rather than a situation in which multiple members of Congress say they're terrified they or their families will be killed if they cross Trump

And the *really* crazy part is: probably less than 0.1% of the planet's population is in favour.

I mean, only a complete lunatic or moron would choose war and AI, leading to planetary collapse, as his/her preferred option.

Here is the list of the members of the committee. Only 5 showed up, 2 Democrats. Klobuchar and Bennet. I do not want to ever hear the "resist" cry from Booker, Warnock, Schiff, Durbin, etc. This is your job! Get your asses to the hearings and do some work. We are paying you 174K, plus benefits.

There's just one problem: the letter was fake. Another man is now accused of forging it.

A very old Soviet joke, from an especially dark time:

Foxes are fleeing the USSR in droves.
Q: Why are you running away?
Fox: The Soviets passed a new law that they’re going to arrest all camels.
Q: But you’re foxes!
Fox: Yeah, why don’t *you* try proving to the NKVD that you’re not a camel.

National parks were the main places I wanted my kids to see, and I wrote about them in THE LAST AMERICAN ROAD TRIP. Breaks my heart that the book is coming out as Trump tries to make good on his plans to destroy them. I hope my book helps the effort to fight back. www.thelastamericanroadtrip.com

Few stories better capture modern policing than this one about a conspiracy of private corporate interests paying off-duty state troopers as part of a "shadow force" to cleanse downtown Nashville of homeless people using metal chains, cages, and violence.

Cruel and Dangerous…

The Trump administration just announced it’s shutting all Job Corps centers nationwide by June 30—no warning, no plan, just blindsiding students and families.

Any thought given to the lives this disrupts?

Any thought given to the skilled labor shortage this will make worse?

I think a lot about this quote from Anaïs Nin’s diary from 1939-1944:

“America is in even greater danger because of its cult of toughness, its hatred of sensitivity, and someday it may have to pay a price for this, because atrophy of feeling creates criminals”.

I think what is particularly infuriating is that Trump has been using stochastic terrorism for nearly a decade now and not only does the media not suggest he’s responsible for the actions he inspires but it outright scolds anyone on the left that even suggests he is.
