so i just played some more PSX Quake 2, and there’s a section near the end of unit 4 with an incredibly long tunnel. what blows me away is that the framerate doesn’t drop that much in this GIANT room. it drops, sure, but not nearly as much as i’d expect, haha. kind of insane.

also, in Freedoom, you get to play as Luke Wilson, which is kinda neat

i checked back on the Freedoom project (i last looked at it years ago), and it looks *so much better*! many of the sprites have been reworked, and i really like the "serpentine/tentacle-y" style of its monsters. i think i now *prefer* this to the original doom assets/iwads (!!!) freedoom.github.io
