Slight collection: she was designed that was by the same person at Nintendo who designed Fox, Falco, Peppy and Slippy.

This is really something taken from the Japanese guidebook that reveals that Pigma was the true mastermind behind Star Wolf's creation as he's said to be the one who convinced Wolf to form Star Wolf and work for Andross, taking advantage of Wolf's "magnanimous" aspect and prior rivalry against James

Adventures sold 1.82 million. It was actually the last Star Fox game to have reported over selling a million for years until Star Fox 64 3D (which itself took about a decade just to sell 1/4 of what it did back on N64, a less popular platform than the 3DS...)

A lot of people blame SFC for seemingly introducing Fox's "bell shaped" (Really kitsune mask shaped) head but the reality is that Takaya Imamura, the man at Nintendo who created Fox and the SF universe and was also responsible for Command's story/character stuff, had already been drawing him thatway

As for Assault, well its problem is that it was clearly a multiplayer arena shooter that had a single-player cobbled together halfway into development. It's kinda funny and sad seeing Imamura and the crew trying to justify the lack of branching paths as some sort of smart design decision...

Another thing that's funny is how both Command and Zero, the only two post-64 games with any sort of branching paths to take, reportedly started off as linear experiences, something more noticeable with Zero.

"I absolutely feel like the devs were going for that with Krystal" they were, and the wildest thing about it is that order came from Nintendo themselves.
November 17, 2025 at 6:04 PM
Like I'd like to point out...Star Fox Command especially basically already did this back in 2006 lmao. SF's already got its "quirky sidekick character robot thing". Look for yourself: youtu.be/7xtCYSyghbo?...

"The Starfox gang will do anything for cash," Nuh-uh. They have a strict moral code and sense of justice that prevents them from taking on tasks that they consider immoral. It's been kinda implied that's why they're broke by the time of Adventures.
November 15, 2025 at 11:11 PM
In regards to Star Fox, Takaya Imamura had his own explanation of this back in 2011. www.reddit.com/r/starfox/co...

"But Bananza doesn't present us with a name like "Rotten K. Rool," as though that descriptor is specific to how he exists in this game; his name comes first, and his newly claimed title follows it. Rot is who K. Rool is, and has been all along. " Heh, funny you say that...

Miyamoto chalks it up to "the lack of ideas" purenintendo.com/miyamoto-tal...
October 7, 2025 at 11:15 AM
Yeah it's a somewhat common misconception, James WAS rivals with Wolf (and that's why Wolf wants to fight off Fox so badly), but it was ultimately Andross and Pigma that did him in.

2. Rare themselves didn't have enough faith in Dinosaur Planet as its own late stage N64 original IP, so they willingly accepted Miyamoto's offer to essentially combine their two projects and move development over to GCN. Per admitted by its director, Lee Schuneman: youtu.be/rO7ocvmoDBc?...
October 6, 2025 at 3:37 PM
It was basically because
1. Nintendo themselves were already wanting to make an action adventure SF game in Kyoto, it wasn't going anywhere because it was late into the N64's lifespan and the staff were being pulled away to work on more important stuff like Mario and Zelda for GCN

Ah the good ol' days when Spinosaurus was presented as literally just a generic theropod with a sail bolted on its back.
October 3, 2025 at 1:46 AM
And then Star Fox Guard had a conspicuously Nabbit shaped robot as an enemy, "Nabbot"
October 2, 2025 at 9:27 PM
And the craziest thing is that all entirely on Nintendo themselves.
September 30, 2025 at 10:43 AM
It's a mentality he definitely had with the Star Fox IP, alright...

For Krystal there you should also use this snippet from a 2002 SFA interview with Takaya Imamura just to really drive it home lol

Andross essentially filled in the role that was intended for Drakor (and the Krazoa/Quan Ata Lachu) in Dinosaur Planet, yes.
September 19, 2025 at 10:46 PM
It's really a left over from the original DP narrative. More than anything it was meant to sort of meant to mirror the conflict between the Wolfens (Sabre/Randorn's folks) and the Vixons (Krystal's folk) that was happening on their homeworld of Animus...that led to Randorn killing Krystal's family.
