🐻When hiking through Japan's forests one must be careful with bears, especially in autumn, as they are most active. This year has been particularly deadly, with 13 people dead by bear attacks. It is recommended to make noise when walking in nature tl alert them

🗼I spent the first day of the trip in Tokyo. Still adjusting to the jet lag, I visited the Jimbōchō district (known for its bookstores), ate some nutritious chankonabe and went to a karaoke with my friends

🇯🇵Last month I made a trip to Japan, travelling with some friends to visit others working there. I will be posting some photos here
✈️Starting off, I took a 14h flight from Schiphol to Narita. Here are the first photos I took of Japan from the air, plus the welcome sign in Narita

🍂Trains are a bit unreliable this week so I have been taking the bus to work. Longer ride, but at least the autumn landscape is pretty😄

🦌Fallow deer in the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen, a natural area next to the Dutch coast used for the extraction of drinking water in the region.
Deer are numerous here, and show no fear of people. Their abundance has led to culling campaigns to reduce their number

I visited this museum a couple of years ago, I agree it was amazing! Apart from the fossils, I loved this weird taxidermy weasel😂

To add more info about the area where these fossils were found, the comarca of Jiloca contains part of a natural reserve, the Laguna de Gallocanta. This salty lake is famous for its wintering cranes, which arrive in the thousands

🏛️Some of the fossils of the area are displayed in a dedicated museum (Museo de los Mares Paleozoicos) in the small town of Santa Cruz de Nogueras. Others, like the holotype of Carolowilhelmina, are located in the Natural Sciences Museum of Zaragoza

🐟The Moyuela Formation dates to the Eifelian stage and represents a more pelagic environment, with no benthic fauna and animals probably living among floating algae. The placoderm Carolowilhelmina and the sarcopterygian Grossius belong to this formation
