Neuroscientist
We have also just learned that Tylenol (Paracetemol) does not cause autism. Sorry Kennedy and Trump.

Why is think aloud a way of getting at consciousness? The data could just reflect spontaneous speech. There is no control for non-conscious thought.

This is an impressive advance.

Stunning!

I agree, thinking of results coming out of Bob Knight’s lab.But the work is mainly about where things happen rather than how they happens. It has none of the sophistication of the best work on NHPs.

Having used NHPs ((as well as human PET, FMRi and TMS), I think money should be shifted to other techniques for drug testing. But there is a lazy assumption that we can understand how the brain controls behaviour simply with fMRI etc. We need to understand at the neuronal level (microns).

The approaches described here are vital for the better development of drugs and testing their toxicity. But these methods are not available for studying the contribution of the brain in controlling behaviour.

Isn’t this due to fluctuating attention which we know has a periodicity?

I am all for the bilogical. I think it needs to be a living thing

And what is the answer?

My oldest friend calls me Digit. Don’t you dare or I will put ICE onto you.

I had to look Loz up. It is also the name in a video game. How do you expect the old to keep up?

John mentioned this to me recentl y but I hadn’t seen it.

We agree that the aim is to produce any sequence in time and space). I also think that episodic memories of events are typically memories of sequences (i bought a ticket at the cinema booth).
September 25, 2025 at 10:55 AM
But given close connections of dorsal PF with the hippocampus (PF to retrosplenial to hippocampus) the PF will also support the planning of spatial sequences.

I agree and in chapter 8 as well as the earlier book with Steve Wise I/we stress the importance of generalisation. Shima and Tanji (2007) demonstrate abstract coding for manual sequences (admittedly only a few). I only dealt with sequences in time as there was little on sequences in space.

The functional side of it all is already completely explained by showing that we create templates. See also: @hugospiers.bsky.social

During shopping we execute the exact same template as the mouse does.
