Yumejoshi Project Diary
@diary.yumole.uk
Slightly feral #yumejoshi with just enough sewing and python knowledge to be dangerous. Documenting various husbando-related projects in my own little corner out of consideration for my main followers.

F/O: Kotetsu Kaburagi. I share. IDGAF.
The inner head is, in general, looking *a lot* different since the last post. The inner mouth has been made more spacious, the jaw was split off into its own part to allow for movement, and the nasal cavity has been reshaped to better support the silicone layer.

Adapted Sideburn's animatronic eye mech to fit the head structure -- not because I plan on incorporating any actual animatronics, but just to make sure the eyes can close for sleebytime. This project is getting more out of hand the longer I wait on the 3D printer to work.

The things I (consider) do(ing) for this old man..........

(For context, this is a file for a hybrid 3D print/silicone head because I only learn how to approach things in a sensible way after doing them in 100001 pants-on-head stupid ways)

Many artists headcanon Kotetsu as at least a little hairy, and I am in their ranks. So we're painstakingly rooting in some really nice mohair in select spots, y'all.

I haven't posted much of v2 of the head and that's honestly because it's in a weird spot right now. The structure is more or less done but I keep making corrections that require me to wait on curing.

The latest is replacing the foam clay lips that dried too hard with silicone from the same mold.

Lips and chin molded out of foam clay. It's a little rough, but considering my other attempt came out even worse, I think I can work with this.

I may or may not have started collecting promo art accurate yukata for the husbando because I am a *gigantic weeb*.

The first is official, the second is not in that it originates from Maruhisa inc rather than being in any way affiliated with the ryokan running the promotion.

Today has been all about experimenting with hopefully better techniques while waiting for supplies to come in. Shown here is a new embroidery technique for the facial hair that results in cleaner borders, less shifting, and an overall better appearance.

So several months and one complete redo of the head later, guess who remembered molds exist.

Throwing this in a larger order just to see if maybe it'll play nice with the foam clay I have leftover. I'm not super confident, but it's pretty cheap to throw in, so....

Extremely normal process right here.

Eyes!! I had also gotten the supplies I needed to try and finish the lips, but because I am *dumb* I'd gotten super glue all over the (cheap, folding) table while working with these, so I don't want to risk working with that delicate material until it's dried.

But the eyes came out really nice.

Arms are also redone (at least as much as possible without the presence of the new shoulder joints) with the same techniques as the legs. I'm pleasantly surprised by how fast they went!

First attempt at face skin. Eyes are a little too big and the satin stitching on the beard came out a bit sloppy. Both of these require redoing the whole thing, which is why I didn't bother finishing the lips. But at least I know it works!

I think I finally have a decent pattern for the face skin, and it's startling how deceptively simple it looks. The end result is *very* simple to sew, hopefully, but the amount of trial and error it took to get there is embarrassing.

Ears. The existing ones were damaged while moving them from a previous iteration of the head. Took this opportunity to improve the pattern.
August 22, 2025 at 1:07 AM
New arms. Made using a 3d model in Blender for a more organic shape. They're also slightly slimmer than the old ones and should *actually fit in shirt sleeves* while still looking defined.

SYKE I split it up even more so that I can use normal bolts throughout and even further minimize the risk of something breaking.

Realized while in the shower last night that switching to the same style ball joint for the shoulders and hips will actually result in a massive loss in mobility. As while all the designs I've found can rotate 360 degrees, the average pitch is about 35. So we're switching back to a multi part hirth.

New wrist joints! Hopefully these won't fall apart constantly.
Based on NamorIt's flexible ball joint but with a pvc adapter slapped on.

It is... VERY odd seeing him together, even though there are still things that need fixing.

At first I found the legs a bit overwhelming, but on measuring him... No that's just the experience of being with a tall person. The ratios all check out.

Celebrating the 4th in the only way befitting this tire-fire of a country...

By modifying a FreeSewing sweater patter into a VK sweater for the cloth doll in order to sexualize the old man.

No the cloth doll isn't done, but all the stuff I still need to do is in supply limbo.

You know it's serious when I'm dragging out the spreadsheets.
