Dumb question - can’t they just appoint someone legally and reopen the cases? I guess that’s less fun.

The speed with which I have cycled between mourning and pure incandescent rage for the last year…..

Well fuck. How many Somalis in MN are here on TPS? Many have been here for decades, so maybe it’s a small subset?

What happens on 3/17/26, though? I don’t know enough about how this works. He can’t end it now, but when it expires….

Can’t be MN, our governor is Walz. Not Waltz.

Yes! Our two elderly dogs both died in the last 18 months, the last 6 months ago. We got this little sweetie, a husky/shepherd mix, about 6 weeks ago. He is the BEST (except for treating me like a chew toy, but it’s from a place of love). Super snuggly, soft, gorgeous, playful & a very good boi.

He’s a husky shepherd mix, per adoption agency. Waiting on dna test results. The husky is for sure, and based on littermates the shepherd seems right too, but he’s the only one who looks like this.

Yes. And also this is not dementia. This is a sexist asshole showing us again who he is.

There is zero chance he actually believes this.

I work for the agency that led our state’s response. This is 100% true. So many people retired or left public service, and so many still deal with PTSD. People joke about it or brush it off, but it’s very close to the surface.

He doesn’t see the people as people. They’re just objects.

It definitely is problematic, I’ll give you that. But I think it tends to be recognized as such, vs being painted as a heartbreaking romance featuring star-crossed lovers like Wuthering Heights is. I’m convinced most people who describe it that way have never read it.
November 14, 2025 at 3:53 AM
I love a gothic novel. But everyone in Wuthering Heights is an asshole, and it’s not a romance or a love story. I don’t get the masterpiece label, never have. If you want a gothic romance with a brooding lead, go with Jane Eyre!
November 14, 2025 at 3:23 AM
I just reread it. Everyone is an asshole, basically nobody has redeeming qualities. It is in no way a romance, and every time I see it described as such I am mystified.

Well, voting to end the shutdown without an extension of tax credits was a nonstarter too, until you jackasses agreed to do just that. Hard to trust you not to make more concessions, just for a vote that won’t pass.

Everyone will negotiate their own insurance! What could go wrong?!?!
November 11, 2025 at 12:40 AM
My sample is small too, but the results are the same. They are PISSED. Why bother shutting it down if you’re going to fold for nothing? Sure doesn’t bode well for the future.

And how much angrier we are about to be.
