Lifelong Democrat. Fight for democracy and Ukraine. Stop Project 2025! Writer and advocate for renewable energies and the energy transition. Chair, Energy and Environment Policy Group.
Vance's threat: let the billionaires invade with far-right propaganda and disinformation or else we let Russia invade. Charming. So much for respecting sovereignty. Vance and Musk hate people to protect their own democracies.

Yes, Europe doesn't need X's toxic swamp of disinformation and divisiveness.

The creator of the ICE policies completely lacks the necessary judgement to criticise or reform it. Any of T's agency heads will eventually be replaced because of their worsening images in the press, but I trust him to plunge the dregs of America to find someone worse.

Yes, it gets ridiculous when we spend far more on the missile that takes out the drone than the drone itself!

Yes! Developing a defense industry takes time. The US, in particular, has the Patriot defense systems and the F-35s. The French Rafale is apparently better for aerial "dogfights" but the F35 better for stealth missions. But Ukraine aces drone warfare!

According to the Reagan National Defense Survey, 64% of Americans favor sending more lethal force to Ukraine, up 9 pts from last yr. Just another sign that Trump's alignment with Putin is out of step with the American public, that supports Ukraine+its traditional European allies. Strat is disturbing

Right on, Politics Girl!

We have the same double standard in the US. Biden was criticised for any slip of the tongue or moment of fatigue. Trump says horrific things, wild, undemocratic, and vindictive things, aligns with Putin. Ho hum. But more and more are waking up and saying this is unacceptable.
December 6, 2025 at 12:14 PM
Yes, just as Putin and Trump are trying to decide the fate of Ukraine without the Ukrainians or the Europeans. The EU is a loose federation, not always easy to achieve consensus. But that does not mean it accepts ordering about by the outside.

Thank you! It's very kind of you to explain. The uniting of a Pan-european right wing is a worrying development. Europe needs to be vigilant about far-right media-propaganda channels too.

I "liked" this post, but only to mark that it is interesting, because the second article referred to isn't available, nor do I understand the German introduction.

I don't know the answer to your question, but what I have heard is that there is a lot of circular, mutual financing involved in these deals. They are investing in, or financing each other, involving multiple firms. If one deal fails, all are at risk.

People are already suffering financially, though you are right they will suffer more. The corps lavishing gifts are expecting big returns, such as mergers approved, regulations erased etc. Except the top 10 firms, most firms are hurting, laying off folks, freezing investments-an economic retraction.

In terms of the tariffs, it is not rocket science to return the paid tariffs to the importing businesses that paid them. The government knows exactly how much who paid when. If the tariffs are ruled illegal, the money can be refunded. Trump won't want to. Harder to reimburse their customers.

I think the groups behind him are the Heritage Foundation, (eg Rssell Vought), the Techbros, and Putin. He sits back and let's these groups make decisions that tear down democracy.

Yes, when Trump leaned briefly in Zelenskyy's direction, it was when he thought that Ukraine could win the war. Then Putin spoke with him, and he realigned with Putin. Trump prefers winners. It is important that European leaders and pro-Ukraine Republicans to keep up this alternative narrative.

Yes, Trump is enjoying adding up all the billions that he thinks other countries have promised him, often that they clearly can't afford. Putin wants to manipulate Trump into normalising Russia+remove sanctions. Trump can dream on about the payments+the resources he hopes to steal+share with Russia.

As the tariffs reach their full impacts, and when a correction to the AI investment spree sets in, we should be seeing a blossoming of a full stagflation. We may well see 1929 again. I hope these destructive policies will be stopped soon, but Bessent just said Trump convinced him tariffs were good!

Yes, it's disgusting!

How nasty can anyone be! Some journalists should ask him for the evidence (it's all made up) for the "billions" the Somalians supposedly take, and show him statistics on employment of Somalians. We can't let his unchecked venom pretend to be factual. So tired of it...

Denmark is doing a marvelous job, but this progress should also be understood as part of the European Energy Transition. At different paces, and each with slightly different energy mixes, all European countries are moving ahead with defossilizing energy+industry, along with other green measures.
