Here’s one of Seattle’s first Wildlife Sanctuary lot in Ballard 3003 NW 70th St. Looks like the owner is gone, house boarded up and a picture and candle in the parking strip. A real gem : vital for animals, the lot all trees and shrubs.

Here’s a Mazzard Cherry living at 3033 NW 62nd (Ballard). According to Street Trees of Seattle by Taha Ebrahimi this tree is the first recorded cherry tree in the public right-of-way.

A blooming Scrophularia, a figwort in my garden seeded 20 years ago, a close and old relative of the Foxglove. Seeds itself about the garden, its blooms are orange, bee and hummingbird magnet.
