I wonder if the United States can learn anything from the last time a major industrialized country decided to isolate itself from the rest of the world?

Almost a decade after the Brexit vote, GDP in the UK is around 6-8% lower relative to peer countries. (Source: www.nber.org/papers/w34459)

UC students, feel free to lodge complaints about me, I will be so hilarious about it online.

Unlike you, I can read and that’s why I know what the constitution says.
Trump on Ilhan Omar: "I look at somebody who comes from Somalia...and she comes in and tells us how to run our country. 'The Constitution says this, the Constitution says that.' The whole thing is crazy."

OK, where are we on the SNAP benefits cases?

Two things happened this morning:

* DOJ told SCOTUS they're still fighting to stop full November SNAP benefit payments, via their stay request at SCOTUS
* District court judge in Mass. stayed USDA's 11/8 memo ordering states to "undo" full payments

The monthly SNAP benefit is around $177 a month

The average ACA benefit can be up to $550 a month

These are small numbers compared to the billion dollar tax cuts given to corporations

The $40 billion to Argentina or $45 billion for ICE

They’re life saving programs & Dems must hold the line

I was there the night Leo was elected. I’ve spent the last six months watching him find his voice — and it’s shaking the foundations of power.
Six Months of Pope Leo: "This is An Hour For Love"
The moment six months ago, when white smoke billowed over where I stood in St. Peter’s Square and Pope Leo XIV was elected the 267th leader of the Catholic Church, is one I’ll never forget.
